Interviews about thriller movies

We interviewed people to get the audiences opinions about thriller movies.

Conclusion

Question 1: On a scale from 1 to 10, how much do you like thriller movies?
In this question all the people that we interviewed answered this question with either an 8 or 9 out of 10. This meant that everyone we interviewed liked thriller movies; therefore we could get a better reaction when answering the rest of the questions rather than someone who doesn’t like thriller movies at all.

Question 2: What do you specifically like about thriller movies?
I gathered from this question that most of the people interviewed liked the suspense and the build up to a thriller movie which leads the audience to being at the ‘edge of their seat’ throughout thriller movies.

Question 3: What's your favourite thriller movie and why?
The results of this question were that the audience liked their favourite thriller movies because of the fear factor and the tension throughout the movie and not knowing what’s going to happen next.

Question 4: In your opinion what make a thriller movie so exciting?
Lastly, people thought that what made a thriller movie exciting was the build up to something scary happening and the fact that just anything can happen at any time. Also the fast editing and the sound effects make a thriller movie exciting as it builds up adrenalin for the audience.

Mood board

The image above is the second mood board which we created to get some ideas of how to present our thriller movie. Therefore the images are related to our piece, for example there are some images of an ECG monitor so that we could get an idea of how to make our credits. We also collected some images of dark corridors to get some inspiration.

Planning our movie

This image shows some of the planning in which we did when planning our movie. We had to keep into consideration that out opening would be based on a psychological thriller. In this image we also included the themes and settings of the 2 minute opening. We included the planning of how the credits would be shown on screen. As a group we agreed for the credits to come up on screen with the effect of an ECG monitor showing that it is based in an institution.

We made a summary to the film opening. In this summary we included the type of sound which we would be using. We also included where the scenes would take place. Lastly, there is a summary of the opening in order.

Logo

As we decided that our company name was PVA, we then designed the logo above. We chose the colours black, white and red which were usually thriller related colours. The colour black would represent darkness and the colour red represents danger. We made the outline of the letters white to contrast with the black background and also to show the letters being ‘glued together’ like the ‘PVA glue’ itself.

This is the logo which was made on Adobe FireworksCS5. To make this logo I changed the background colour to black. I then chose the font type with the help of my group. When we decided on the font, I entered the letters one by one so that they could be rotated easier using the rotating tool. Then I changed the colour of the letters to red with a white outline.

Company name + Film title

This image shows all the different ideas which we had when coming up with the company names. All of the names we came up with were related to our own names. After looking at all the different names, we decided the company name to be PVA. This company name stands for the first letter of each of our surnames which are ‘Perera’, ‘Vicente’ and ‘Arredondo’.

For the film title we came up with many different ones so that we could have a choice on which name sounded better. After coming up with all the ideas we narrowed it down to 5 names (the ones underlined with red). As a group we agreed on the film title 'Mind Games'.

Questionnaire

This is the questionnaire in which we created and gave out to get people’s opinions about thriller movies. It helped us get an idea of the sort of thriller movies our audiences are interested in.  We then related the questionnaire answers to our movie to see whether or not the audience would be interested in it. This document also shows the changes which we made to the questions to make it easier our audience to understand.

The results of the questionnaire are shown in this document. We collected the information and made some graphs and charts. We then analysed each questions result underneath each one.
